Train Your Brain to Speak Kindly to Yourself

Have you ever had one of those moments when you suddenly snap out of it and realize your mind has just taken a deep dive into a negative rabbit hole, and you didn’t even see it coming? 🙋‍♀️ Trust me, you’re not alone. It happens to all of us.

Here’s the kicker: we have about 70,000 thoughts running through our heads each day, according to the Cleveland Clinic¹. That’s a LOT of mental chatter! And if you’re like me, a lot of those thoughts can quickly turn into self-criticism, worry, or doubt. But here's the thing—what if we could train our brains to be more intentional about the thoughts we focus on? What if we could make those 70,000 thoughts work for us, not against us?

I’m inviting you to do just that—use that powerful brain of yours more intentionally, especially when it comes to being kind to yourself. And you don’t have to spend hours meditating or going on some huge mental health journey to get started.

Perfect activities to start practicing this during:

  • Doing the dishes 🍽️

  • Vacuuming 🧹

  • Getting a massage 💆‍♀️

  • As you’re falling asleep at night 🛏️

  • Walking or exercising 🚶‍♀️

These are the moments when your mind is free to wander, so why not take advantage of them?

Here are some positive, loving thoughts you can repeat to yourself during these moments:

  • “I love you, body.” 💖

  • “Thank you, body, for all you do.” 🙏

  • “I love my life.” 🌟

  • “I am so grateful for all that I have.” 🙌

  • “I feel so much love in my life.” 💞

  • “I am so worthy of love.” 💖

  • “I am always so supported.” 💪

Saying these things out loud or just silently repeating them in your mind over and over and over can start to rewire the way you speak to yourself. And before you know it, you’ll be hearing your inner voice filled with love and gratitude instead of criticism or self-doubt.

So, what activity are you going to try this out during today? Whether it’s doing the dishes, falling asleep, or just taking a quiet walk, choose one small moment to begin practicing kindness in your thoughts. Your brain—and your heart—will thank you.

Let's train our brains to be kinder to ourselves, one thought at a time. ❤️
